Hassan Azzam(Private)

His life story
The son of Hajla and Said, Hassan was born in 1918 in the village of Usafia to a respected and extensive family. His father was one of the leaders of the village and the Druze community. Hassan attended the local elementary school and worked on the large family farm.
During the bloody events that broke out in April 1936, the residents of Usafia and Dalit al-Karmel suffered from repeated raids by Arab gangs. Hassan, along with his father and brother, organized with other residents for self-defense. Later, the family collaborated with members of the "Hagana" organization from the settlement of Yagur in their struggle against the gangs of Mufti Hajj Amin al-Husseini.
Due to their involvement, a bounty was declared on his head and that of his brother.
On November 22, 1938, during an intelligence mission by the "Hagana" from Isfaia to Ligur, Hassan fell. His burial place is unknown. He left behind his parents and four siblings.
He was later recognized as a martyr in the Israeli military, and his name is commemorated on a monument in the military cemetery in Isfahan.
On February 21, 1972, his family was awarded The Alah Medal – The State Fighters' DecorationIn 1976, his name was added to the central memorial tablet commemorating the fallen IDF members of the Druze community, located in the military cemetery in the village of Usafiya.
