His life story

Son of Chashma and Yosef. Born on October 23, 1967 in the village of Yarka. He began his studies at the elementary school in his village, and then worked as a shepherd and helped his family.

In early June 1986, he was drafted into the IDF and assigned to the General and Infantry Corps. After completing his basic training, he was assigned to serve in an Armored Corps unit, as a storekeeper clerk. Emil fulfilled his duties responsibly, quietly and modestly, and was always ready to help his comrades.

On September 9, 1986, Emil was killed in action. He was eighteen years old when he was killed. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in the village of Yarka. He left behind his parents, five brothers – Amal, Nabil, Samir, Kamil and Faraj – and three sisters – Saada, Hodiya and Maysa.

In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote:
"Emil came to our field unit in the Golan Heights with a desire to serve and contribute to the front line. He fulfilled his role with humility and joy, knowing how to help his comrades and strengthen their spirits. His death is a great loss for us, for the community and for the entire country."
