His life story

Son of Samira and Farhan. Born on December 20, 1970 in the village of Julis, on a beautiful and bright day – and his name, which means "happy", suited his character and way of life. He was a handsome and shy boy, with a broad face, green eyes and curly hair. The eldest son of a loving and respected family, he enjoyed a special status and was greatly loved by the villagers, especially the younger ones.

Behind the shyness was a lively and ambitious young man who loved life with all his heart. His upright stature, athletic build, and impressive appearance complemented his image and pleasant character. Said attended elementary school in his village and then completed his studies at the comprehensive school in Yirka. He belonged to the "Working Youth" movement, and in his free time he was heavily involved in sports - swimming, Krav Maga training, and karate. His big dream was to purchase a motorcycle, and when he was able to do so with the help of his parents, there was great happiness in his heart. Despite his love of adventure, he maintained his parents' honor and was careful not to worry them.

In late July 1989, he was drafted into the IDF and assigned to serve in the infantry, logistics, and military police. Said considered enlistment a natural duty for every citizen, and was proud to follow in the footsteps of his father, who also served in the army. The initial training period was challenging for him, but he faced it with pride, imbued with a sense of mission and a desire to honorably represent his family and people. Despite the difficulty of leaving home every week, he devoted himself to his service and saw his role as a police officer as an educational mission.

On September 22, 1989, Said was killed in a serious car accident during his military service. He was 19 years old when he died. He was laid to rest in the military section of the cemetery in the village of Julis. He left behind his parents, three sisters and a brother – Raovia, Wafa, Wissam and Sana.

In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote:
"Said was an exemplary soldier and person. He stood out by helping his comrades, volunteered for every mission and showed great responsibility. His sudden death left us all shocked and in pain. I felt his pride in the army, and his desire to represent it with honor and grace."
