Imad was born on April 12, 1973 in the Druze village of Julis in the Lower Galilee, the third son in a family of five children. He began his studies at the "Julis A" elementary school, continued at the "Achva" comprehensive high school in Kfar Yarka, and graduated from the "Amal Shimshon" vocational high school near the Golani junction, majoring in mechanics. Imad was a beloved and popular boy in the village, always expressing his opinion and principles, and often saying: "Nothing stands in the way of will."

In August 1992, he was drafted into compulsory service in the IDF, completed his basic training, and was assigned to technology and maintenance in the infantry and armaments, at the Tira transportation base, as a mechanic. He was soon promoted to the rank of corporal. His commanders noted him as a dedicated, professional, and talented soldier, who did his job efficiently and with great vitality, and demonstrated initiative even in matters that were not included in his duties.

On September 6, 1993, Imad died in a car accident near the village of Yasif while performing his duties. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in the village of Julis. He left behind his parents, three sisters – Aviva, Amal and Sanna – and a brother, Anan. Imad was twenty years old when he died.

In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: "Lieutenant Imad Hashan stood out as a diligent and talented soldier, who was exemplary. He was kind, sociable, and formed good relationships with commanders and soldiers alike."
