Moafek was born on August 1, 1965 in Shfaram, to a large family. He began his studies at the "Al Power" elementary school and continued at the "Shfaram Comprehensive" high school. Already in his youth, he excelled in sports, especially soccer and track and field, and was a lover of writing, leaving behind a rich handwritten diary. Moafek cared deeply for his large family and at a young age began working in a locksmith's shop in Karmiel, to support his parents and younger siblings. This work gave him expertise in the framing profession.

At the age of sixteen, while visiting the Tomb of Yitro – a sacred place for the Druze community – he first met Edna, his great love. After first sight, he decided to ask for her hand in marriage. They became engaged at the age of eighteen, and their preparations for their new home continued in parallel with helping his parents.

During his service in the IDF, to which he was drafted in August 1983, Muafek served in an infantry battalion and was stationed in Lebanon after a difficult training camp. During a patrol, the jeep he was riding in was hit by bullets that hit his helmet, but he emerged unharmed. In his diary, Muafek wrote about his experiences in Lebanon and the pain he felt for the victims of the war, especially for young women who lost their husbands. During his service, he took a parachuting course and advanced training in maintaining armored personnel carriers, and at all times he was concerned about his parents and their difficult living conditions.

Moafek was discharged from the IDF in August 1986, and his discharge certificate stated: "An enterprising, dedicated, punctual and sharp soldier." At the end of 1987, he was accepted into the Israel Police, and the following year his marriage ceremony with Edna was held. In January 1989, their eldest son, Wiam, was born, and in May 1990, their daughter, Dua, was born.

On September 12, 1993, while on reserve duty in the Gaza Strip, Mu'afek was injured in a hostile terrorist attack. The jeep in which he was on patrol was attacked with fire from an ambush, and three soldiers were killed. Mu'afek was 28 years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the civil cemetery in Shfaram, and was posthumously promoted to the rank of sergeant. He left behind a wife, a son and a daughter, parents, six brothers – Muhammad, Saleh, Salah, Muslih, Fuiz and Wafik – and five sisters – Hazran, Faiza, Anaam, Saleha and Dalal.
