His life story
Son of Najib Waskot. Born on July 15, 1950 in the village of Yarka in the Galilee. His childhood and youth were spent between the mountain and village landscapes, in a simple and traditional home where he absorbed the values of honesty, responsibility and respect for others. He attended the village elementary school, where he was evident from a young age as a serious, quiet and modest person, who was liked by his teachers and loved by his friends. His honest and trustworthy character meant that his friends were attached to him heart and soul and saw him as a loyal brother.
Upon reaching military age, at the end of 1969, he enlisted in the IDF. Jalev wanted to contribute to the best of his ability, and therefore volunteered to serve in a reconnaissance unit - a demanding and dangerous position that required great courage, responsibility, and discipline. Even during his service, he was known as a disciplined, serious, and responsible soldier, who was always ready to take part in the most complex missions out of a deep sense of mission.
On September 6, 1969, while performing his duties as part of his military service, Jalab was killed before he turned nineteen. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in the village of Yarka, accompanied by family members, friends, villagers, and representatives of the security forces.
His fall left a deep void in his family and among his acquaintances, but his image remains engraved in the hearts of all who knew him. His name was immortalized in the book "Brit Damim," which documents the story of the Druze warriors who fell in Israel's wars - a testament to the loyalty, devotion, and shared destiny of the members of the Druze community with the State of Israel.
