His life story
Son of Hasuna and Faiz. Born on July 1, 1943 in Dalit al-Karmel. He began his studies at the elementary school in his neighborhood, and then continued on to the Orthodox high school in Haifa, where he excelled in his studies and graduated with great success.
At the age of eighteen, he enlisted in the IDF and served in the Minorities Unit. He distinguished himself as a disciplined, dedicated, and loyal soldier, and was awarded a certificate of appreciation and distinction for his service. In 1966, he was discharged from the IDF, but a year later he found his way into public service once again – and enlisted in the Israel Police.
He served in the police as an investigator in Gaza and the Strip, fulfilling his duties professionally and efficiently, and continued to develop professionally through various courses and training. His commanders and friends saw him as a responsible police officer, with leadership skills and the ability to express himself, brave and diligent, who was always ready to lend a hand and help others.
Fayed married Amira, and together they established a warm and loving home. They had two sons – Rokan and Amir, and a daughter – Dina. He was a devoted husband and loving father, who dedicated his life to his family, won the sympathy of those around him, and was a respected figure in his community.
On September 21, 1974, Sergeant Major Fayed Hasson fell in the line of duty, aged only thirty-one. He was laid to rest in a well-attended ceremony at the cemetery in Dalit al-Karmel. He was posthumously awarded the Police Service Medal.
His wife Amira dedicated her life to their children, but also to social and cultural activities among Druze widows within the framework of the "Yad Labanim" home. She expressed her pain in a moving poem, in which she wrote, among other things:
"Suddenly and unexpectedly you left us / You left a wife and three children behind you / … Little Dina asks: Where did you go? / … You were a beloved son, brother, father and friend / You knew how to distinguish between good and evil / … And who would have thought that this would be the end..."
