His life story

Son of Delilah and Aqab. Born in 1937 in the village of Beit Jen in the Upper Galilee, at the foot of Mount Meron. From childhood, he was known as a polite, quiet and kind-hearted boy, loved by his friends and greatly admired by the village elders.

He began his studies at the elementary school in his village at the age of five, but after finishing the seventh grade he was unable to continue his studies due to a shortage of students. At the age of thirteen he went to work to help support the family. Muhammad, who was an only child, was very careful to honor his parents, combining his work in supporting the family with helping with all the chores of the farm, and was highly regarded for his dedication.

In November 1956, he enlisted in the IDF as part of the second round of conscription for members of the Druze community for compulsory service. After basic training in the infantry, he was assigned to the Druze unit in the IDF, and engaged in ongoing security activities on the southern border - opposite Jordan and opposite Egypt in the Gaza Strip.

At the end of his regular service, which lasted two and a half years, Muhammad returned to Beit Jann, married Naifa from the village of Peqi'in, and worked to earn a living in various jobs: farming, raising goats, trading, and even selling carpets. He was a likable young man surrounded by friends, doing a lot of good and helping the elderly and anyone in need. His hobbies were nature walks and music - he loved to sing, played the flute, and successfully imitated the famous Egyptian singer Farid al-Atrash.

On November 2, 1962, he was drafted into reserve service and sent with his unit to secure the Egyptian border. On November 7, six days after his enlistment, he went on a patrol in the Kibbutz Nir Am area. During a clash with a squad of infiltrators from Egypt, a battle broke out, in which Muhammad fell in heroic combat.

Muhammad was 25 years old when he was killed. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in his village. Years later, with the establishment of the military cemetery in Beit Jenn, a tombstone was placed there in his memory.

He left behind a wife and a baby girl, Raifa, who was four months old. After his death, his widow remarried, and her daughter was initially raised by her grandfather until the age of ten, and after his death she was placed in the care of relatives.

Muhammad's memory is commemorated in the "Yad Labanim" house in Daliat al-Karmel, in the central monuments in Isfahan, and in the house of Jinn - as a loyal son to his community and country, who fell on his watch.
