Salman Fares(Sergeant First Class)

His life story
Son of Della and Salim. Born in Hurfish on February 9, 1957 and raised in the northern Druze village, known for training most of its young men for combat service and key positions in the security apparatus.
He received his education near his home, at the elementary school in Horfis and the settlement of Tarshiha, and continued his secondary education at the high school in Tarshiha. Since his youth, he was very close to his family, his parents and his brothers, and in his free time he was involved in sports.
At the end of 1974, Salman enlisted in the IDF and served in Unit 244 until November 1977, during which time he took an infantry platoon commanders course. In 1978, after a brief return to citizenship, he enlisted in the Border Guard and continued to serve in its ranks. During his service, he successfully completed many advanced training courses with distinction, and distinguished himself as a model and example to his comrades. Upon completion of the advanced training and transfer to Company 20, Salman was appointed Deputy Chief of Security (Sambatz) of the unit.
During his service, he was awarded the following medals of distinction: the Operational Service Medal and the Lebanon War Medal.
Sergeant Major Salman was killed in the line of duty in Lebanon, in the first Tyre disaster. On the morning of November 11, 1982, during the Galilee Peace War, a building in the city of Tyre, which housed the Israeli military government and many IDF forces, collapsed in an explosion that claimed the lives of about a hundred people, including 76 members of the Israeli security forces, including Salman.
Salman was 25 years old when he died. He was buried in the cemetery in Khurfish, leaving behind a wife who had taught him only two months before his death.
