Abid Araida(Sergeant First Class)

His life story
Son of Raya and Said. Born in the village of Magar on July 1, 1942, he spent his childhood in the village, where he attended elementary school for eight years. He then chose to discontinue his studies and devote his time to working on the family farm, out of a desire to help his parents support the household.
As he grew older, he enlisted in Unit 300 – the Druze unit in the IDF – and served his mandatory service there. After his release, he chose to continue his security service and joined the Border Guard, where he served for many years in various units. Adiv was known as a dedicated fighter and devoted to his mission, and received praise, letters of appreciation and many medals: the Six-Day War Medal, the Yom Kippur War Medal, the Operational Service Medal and the Long Service Medal.
During his service, he excelled as a squad commander, and demonstrated leadership on the battlefield. In one of the operations, while commanding a patrol, he spotted a squad of infiltrators. Adib changed his course, set up an ambush, and led his men in a daring assault, which resulted in the elimination of the squad, which had until then caused extensive damage to life and property.
In parallel with his service, Adib established a home in his village with his wife, and they had nine children: Diana, Fuad, Amal, Wasi, Soha, Ahles, Walid, Fathi and Ramzi.
Beyond being a warrior and commander, he was a kind, loving, and pleasant family man. His hobbies were hunting and farming, and he is remembered as a loyal friend who gave his life for true friendship. Thus, it is said of him that in the trial in which he was required to testify against his friend, he could not stand the stand – and stepped down from the stand without saying a word.
On November 3, 1981, during a tour of the Tabgha area, Abid felt unwell. He was taken to the hospital, but there he died. He was 39 years old when he died. Abid was laid to rest in the cemetery in Maghar, leaving behind a wife and nine children.
