Son of Lia and Yosef. Born on March 15, 1954 in the village of Sejur in the Upper Galilee. He spent his childhood in his village, where he attended elementary school and was active in the "Scoofs" movement. From a young age, he stood out as an outstanding student, and his academic excellence became his hallmark. He completed his high school studies at the Rama School, where he also graduated with honors, with the biology major being closest to his heart.

In January 1973, he was drafted into the IDF and served in the infantry, medicine, and the Nahal, but due to his acceptance into academic studies, he received a deferment of service. He studied biology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, graduated with honors and received a bachelor's degree. He then continued his medical studies, which he completed with honors, and was certified as a Doctor of Medicine. At the same time, he served in the IDF as a combat medic, and later successfully completed a medical officer course, during which he was selected as an outstanding company trainee.

His love of learning and research accompanied him throughout his life. He read Hebrew literature a lot, wrote himself in beautiful handwriting, and, together with Prof. Yaakov Steiner of the Hadassah School of Dentistry, published a study that appeared in an international journal for dentists. Alongside his professional pursuits, he found time for his hobbies – mainly hunting, which he shared with his father on trips to the Galilee Mountains. His character was characterized by modesty, love of people and a willingness to help anyone in need. He used to say: "A person should first and foremost be a person, no matter what his role is." His constant smile, generosity and warm attitude made him a beloved and respected figure among everyone who knew him.

During his vacations, he experimented with work in various hospitals, and the medical teams he worked with looked forward to his return as a full-fledged doctor.

On September 18, 1983, Captain Munif was killed in the line of duty and was laid to rest in the cemetery in Sejour. After his death, he was promoted to the rank of captain. He is survived by his wife, three children, parents, a brother, and two sisters.

In a letter of condolence to his family, his commander wrote:
"The entire unit, including its commanders and soldiers, grieves the loss of the battalion doctor who was a role model – professional, kind, pleasant and easygoing. His smile, extraordinary physical fitness and medical knowledge made him an exceptional and respected figure. In every activity – training, operations or readiness – he stood out in his dedication and contribution to soldiers and commanders, in his actions and encouragement."

To commemorate his name, his family established a scholarship fund at Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem. The fund awards a $1,000 scholarship each year to an outstanding student.
