His life story

Suleiman was born in the Druze village of Sajur in the Galilee on September 25, 1939, and grew up and was educated in his village.

In 1956, he enlisted in the IDF. A year later, he was injured in an incident on the Jordanian border and was hospitalized at Soroka Hospital in Beersheba.

In May 1963, he joined the permanent service in the Border Guard and was assigned to the Jerusalem Border Guard, where he served until his last day. During his years of service, he held a series of positions that required great physical and managerial effort - all of which he performed with dedication, willingness, and great professionalism.

Suleiman married Masha and the two established their home in Sajour. Together they raised a family of fifteen children, twelve boys and three girls. He was a devoted father and educator, who devoted himself entirely to nurturing his children, and equally cared for his policemen and subordinates. Suleiman was a socialite, beloved and respected, who was highly regarded for his warm nature, love of people and the respect he showered on those around him. He was also an avid sports fan and a staunch supporter.

On November 12, 1988, Senior Sergeant Suleiman passed away after a serious illness, at the age of 49. He was laid to rest in the cemetery in the village of Sajur. He left behind a wife and fifteen children.
