Said Zajier(Sergeant)

His life story
Son of Afifa and Saleh. Born in the Druze village of Yarka on June 2, 1948. He completed his elementary education at the village school, and later attended a vocational school in Acre, where he acquired a mechanical framework profession. An active young man, Said was a member of the "Scoffis" movement, loved sports and participated in various social activities, in which he contributed greatly to the well-being of the community, thanks to his initiative and desire to help others.
Said was drafted into the IDF in mid-November 1966, and volunteered to serve in a reconnaissance unit. He successfully completed the infantry commanders' course, and excelled in the leadership roles assigned to him. One of the evaluations stated about him: "A disciplined soldier, extremely responsible and a symbol of professional integrity. He carried out his duties flawlessly, and had no disciplinary problems." Said participated with his unit in the battles of the Six-Day War and was decorated with the Battle Badge. After three years of compulsory service, he volunteered for another year of regular service, and upon his release his behavior was noted as "very good."
After his release, Said was accepted to work at the "Kadmani" metal works, and excelled in various management positions. He successfully completed a foreman course from the Institute for Labor Productivity in Haifa and a business administration course in Beersheba, and applied the knowledge in his work. Later, he was sent to fulfill difficult tasks in challenging conditions at the Dead Sea and the Tzin River, where he demonstrated independence, dedication, and resourcefulness. His success led to his appointment as manager of the "Negev Metal Works," and together with his wife and three children, he moved to Beersheba.
On November 23, 1984, while on reserve duty, Sergeant Said was killed in the line of duty. He was buried in the civilian cemetery in the village of Yarka. He left behind a wife, three children, parents, and seven brothers and sisters.
In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: "Saeed was one of the most prominent commanders in the unit. We loved him, soldiers and officers alike. He always loved to help and volunteered to carry out the most difficult tasks."
