His life story

Son of Zohar and Hassan. Born in 1949 in the village of Hurfeish in the Western Galilee, he was a member of the Druze community. He began his studies at the school in his village, where he studied for nine years, and continued at the "Amal" school in Safed. He then discontinued his studies and went to work. Already in his youth, Said stood out for his leadership skills, and was one of the leaders of the Druze scout movement in his village.

In November 1966, Said enlisted in the IDF and served in the infantry, where he distinguished himself as a dedicated and outstanding soldier. A year after his enlistment, he was sent to the Platoon Commanders (PCC) course, and upon completion, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal. In August 1968, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. During his service, he underwent a parachuting course and a Krav Maga instructor course, and advanced through the ranks: in January 1971, he was promoted to the rank of Major, then he completed an officers' course in July 1972 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, and later received the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned as the commander of the recruit branch in his unit. He also completed educational training and a machine gun instructor course, after which he served as commander of the machine gun section. In September 1976, he commanded a sniper course with the rank of Captain, and during this period he focused mainly on training. His commanders noted about him: "He is a dedicated officer, with excellent data "For learning and advancement." In 1977, he completed a company commanders' course and was assigned as an infantry company instructor. In July 1980, he was appointed commander of a post on the Lebanese border with the rank of major.

Said fought in the Six-Day War, the Yom Kippur War, and the War of Peace for the Galilee. At the end of the War of Peace for the Galilee, he was appointed deputy commander of the military government in Tyre and an aid officer for the city's citizens.

On November 11, 1982, following the explosion of a gas tank in the military government building in the city of Tyre, the building collapsed, burying its occupants, including Said. He was 33 years old at the time of the collapse.

Said was buried in the cemetery in the village of Hurfeish, leaving behind a wife, two sons, parents, two brothers and four sisters.

His unit commander wrote to his family: "Major Saeed Sharaf was killed while performing his duties in the liaison unit in Tyre, Lebanon. He served as deputy commander of the unit, and carried out his missions with complete faith in the ability to create peace between Israel and Lebanon, and invested his best efforts in this goal."
