His life story
Rani Aboud was born on April 24, 1971 in Dalit El Carmel, the brother of four – Karmi, Saleh, Naguib, Rania and Salwa.
He completed his studies in his hometown - at the Abed Kadur Elementary School, and later at the Koftan Halabi Middle School.
In 1990, he enlisted in the IDF and served as a soldier in the Givati Brigade. During his service, he completed a company commander course, a sergeant course, and a parachuting course, and made many parachute jumps, including into the sea. Thanks to his professionalism and dedication, he earned the affectionate nickname "The Owl" from his unit mates. Rani commanded soldiers on operational missions in Lebanon and the territories, and was known for his responsibility and courage.
After his discharge from the IDF, he enlisted in the Israel Police and served as a soldier in the city of Hebron. In parallel with his service, he completed a bachelor's degree at the academy.
In 1994, he married Rima, and the two had three children – Catherine, Yuval, and Ivan, who were the source of his pride and great love.
Rani was a smart, kind-hearted man and loved by everyone around him. He was always happy to help, and on his days off he volunteered at the Carmel Police Station. His most notable hobby was raising birds, which he pursued with love and patience.
Sergeant Major Rani Aboud was killed in action on November 21, 2005, in a car accident that occurred on his way home with his coworkers, on the road from Gush Etzion toward Beit Shemesh. He was 34 years old when he died.
He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Aspia, leaving behind a wife, three children, parents, and brothers.
His memory is commemorated in the "Policeman's Square" in Dalit El Carmel, which was named after him, as well as in the Druze Martyrs' Memorial in Aspia and the Israel Police Martyrs' Memorial at the Police College in Beit Shemesh.
